Based in Canadian, TX, Abraham Trading Company has provided alternative investment advisory services to fund of funds, pensions and endowments, family offices, and individual HNW investors for over 30 years.

Salem Abraham founded Abraham Trading Company in 1988 on the principle that mathematics can be applied to markets to recognize opportunities, guide market timing, and manage risk.

Today, our research-driven, quantitative approach can be accessed via a range of strategies and funds.

Salem Abraham has been using quantitative models to trade global futures markets for over 30 years. Salem began trading while attending Notre Dame, where he graduated cum laude with a B.B.A. in Finance in 1987. In January of 1988, he began using his systematic approach to trade managed accounts. He registered as a Commodity Trading Advisor in October 1988 and organized Abraham Trading Company in 1990. Salem continues to lead the research efforts at Abraham Trading Company.

Salem has been featured in Michael Covel's books The Complete Turtle Trader and Trend Following. He has also appeared in Bloomberg Markets, Absolute Return, Barron's, and the NY Times.

Salem is registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and is a member of the National Futures Association. He held full memberships at both the Chicago Board of Trade and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Salem resides with his family in Canadian, Texas. He is actively involved in improving education in Texas.

Barry Sims
Director of operations

Barry is the Director of Operations at Abraham Trading Company. He has been with Abraham Trading Co. since 1995.

Barry attended Texas Tech University from 1976 through 1979, and in 1980 began developing software for financial institutions. In 1992, Barry started his own information management and technology-consulting firm. In March 1995, Barry sold his consulting firm and joined Abraham Trading.

Barry helped Abraham Trading become one of the first groups to automate order entry to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. At one point Abraham Trading was trading 1% of the total volume of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Barry is registered with the CFTC as an associated person of Abraham Trading and is a member of the National Futures Association.

Larry Smith
Director of research

Larry graduated from West Texas A&M University in 1993 with a B.B.A. degree in Finance. Larry joined Abraham Trading in 1995 and has operated in several areas including back office accounting, trade desk management, computer programming, system research, and risk management. As the Director of Research, he is responsible for system research and implementation as well as risk modeling and monitoring.

Larry is registered with the CFTC as an associated person of Abraham Trading and is a member of the National Futures Association.

Kirk collier
Research

Kirk graduated from West Texas A&M in 1994 with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Business and Economics. He also obtained his MBA in 1996 from West Texas A&M with an emphasis in Finance and Statistics. Prior to joining Abraham Trading in 2012, Kirk worked as Senior Financial Analyst for First Data Corporation.

Kirk is registered with the CFTC as an associated person of Abraham Trading and is a member of the National Futures Association.

Kate Abraham
Director of marketing
Kate Abraham is the Director of Marketing at Abraham Trading and Branch Manager of Abraham Trading's Colorado office. She graduated from Harvard College in May 2014 with a B.A. degree in Psychology, focusing on organizational behavior and behavioral economics. She also received a minor in Global Health and Health Policy.

Kate founded a real estate investment business in 2013 and began managing projects in Colorado. She also co-founded an energy company based in Texas in 2014.

Kate joined Abraham Trading in 2016. She is registered with the CFTC as an associated person of Abraham Trading and is a member of the National Futures Association.
John Melvin
Product Development
John has been a member of Abraham Trading's product development and marketing teams since 2016. John has over 5 years of quantitative analysis, trading, structuring, and risk management experience in the commodity space.

Prior to joining Abraham Trading Company, John founded Red Stag Capital, a systematic emerging manager focused on commodity markets. Prior to Red Stag Capital, John was an energy commodity trader for Green Plains. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Texas with an emphasis in statistics, data analysis, and financial mathematics.

John is registered with the CFTC as an associated person of Abraham Trading and is a member of the National Futures Association.
